Hi, I am Lisa Stringer.

Pictures have always been a part of who I am. Although I am not a lover of having my photo taken, I absolutely love having photos of those I hold dearest around me. As I reflect, my love of having photos around me started young; my Mum, having come to the States when she was 18, had relied on photos and letters from her family to stay current, stay connected, and stay centered. She consistently displayed photos of our family across the pond which, I would look at as she read their letters or, we listened to a taped recording of her Mum or Dad sharing the latest from their lives. This became such a special time and would hint at how photographs would continue to comfort me.

Much in the same way my Mum left England for the States at age 18, I left our small hometown in Indiana. In joining the United States Air Force, I too was venturing out as my Mum had done. Packing for basic training included a minimal number of allowable personal items, most importantly a couple of photographs. These photographs were released to me upon my graduation from basic training and promptly landed in frames, displayed in my dorm room at technical school. Those two photos quickly grew into multiple displays that family and friends would gift me in letters; solidifying my connection to home and to those who I cherished and, who cherished and loved me.

Fast forward quite a few years...I am a mum of two lovely girls and the proud wife of a firefighter. I am able to share my past experiences with my family as a result of having said photographs and, even reluctantly, posing in a few. My photography collection has now become "our" photography collection, a collective capturing of individual and family milestones, personalities, and memories. It is this collection, this story, that my daughters will share with their families.

My hope is that you too will enjoy your captured memories in the same way for generations to come together in connection and comfort. Lisa x
